LingoLens privacy policy

This policy describes the proposed native LingoLens screenshot-translator app, not the interactive website demo. The native app is still in development and is not available on the App Store yet. Review this policy again before release.

What you choose to share

The system Photos picker gives LingoLens access only to the image you select. The app uses Apple's Vision framework to recognize text and Apple's Translation framework to translate it. It processes the image on your device. The app itself has no account, analytics, ads, or custom server, and does not upload your selected screenshots or extracted text to us.

Language downloads and exports

Apple's translation service may use a network connection to download language resources; Apple handles that system service under its own policies. After translation, LingoLens creates a temporary copy of the translated image on your device so you can share it. The app deletes its previous temporary export when you choose another image or language; iOS may also clear temporary storage. When you use the system Share sheet, the destination you choose receives that image under its own policies. LingoLens does not automatically save to Photos.

Permissions

The system photo picker does not grant access to your entire photo library. The app does not request VPN, screen recording, background capture, or accessibility permission.

Contact and updates

There is no account or server-side screenshot data for us to delete. A public support contact will be added before the native app is released; the development repository is private and is not a public support channel. This policy will be updated before release if the app's data practices change.
